87 foot Design from Blue Reef Yachts

 March 2, 2010

Blue Reef Yachts is the result of a strategic partnership between the Sunreef Yachts Shipyard and the design company CDR Yachting. Pierre Couach, Franck Reynaud and Vincent Duchatelet make up the CDR team. The partnership has announced its first power yacht for the range called the Blue Reef 87.

Blue Reef Yachts plans to design a range of medium-sized power boats ranging from 65 to 95 feet. They are focusing on making the yachts functional, technically reliable and ergonomic - they will have a reduced fuel consumption of 20% comparing to other yachts of similar size. They have compact exteriors while retaining the impression of internal space equalling to that of 100-foot yachts. The Blue Reef range will be the perfect choice for the Mediterranean Sea or any area with limited space available in marinas and many small picturesque ports where large superyachts cannot be accommodated. The launch of the Blue Reef 87 is scheduled for Winter 2010/2011.

The internal set-up has numerous versions available. It can be changed of modified upon the Client's request accommodating all wishes and ideas as well as the specific boat use purposes. In conformity with the Sunreef Yachts custom-finish philosophy, each Blue Reef yacht will be custom made, including the desing, accessories, layout, equipment etc. Retaining such important assets as luminosity, sobriety, living space, ergonomic and extended storage as a base, each Blue Reef 87 will be customized with a wide selection of precious materials of the highest quality chosen by the owner and supported by experienced designers with extensive knowledge of the world's best yachting suppliers.

REFRESHING NEWS FOR INTERIOR DESIGN

 February 26, 2010

Jensen Interiors, the London based residential and commercial upscale interior design firm, has been enjoying lots of interest at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show where they unveiled their latest super-eco-friendly interior design concepts to acclaim, in association with Callender Designs the creators of the World famous super-eco-friendly yacht superyacht Soliloquy.

Visitors to the stand have been intrigued by their approach to ‘refreshing’ rather than ‘refurbishing’ an interior fit-out, as refreshing is a lower cost option, and even in the super yacht world, cost matters in this economic climate. The potential to also use these materials to refresh shore-based interior design projects has captured the imagination of many visitors.

“The environmental debate often focuses on greenhouse gases” says David Jensen, Chairman. “But when it comes to Interior Design, it is sustainability that is the key issue and this is why the world is switching onto the LEED and BREEAM certification standards.”

“With our extensive research into recycled, recyclable and sustainable materials, we are able to offer all our clients – residential or commercial – the opportunity to refresh their interior design, cost effectively and at the same time in a contemporary, sustainable way.”

Jensen Interiors’ holistic approach to the challenge means they examine every aspect of the life cycle and supply chain of the materials they propose. For instance, when they choose bamboo flooring, it is not just because it is a fast growing plant, but it is harvested from a region of the world that does not impact on pandas that depend on it as a source of food.

Effects and finishes are now available that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago. “Property owners will be increasingly proud to show their visitors just how ecologically responsible they have been when refreshing their properties” Jensen is convinced. “It is human nature to want to make positive impressions with people one meets and nothing could be more of a contemporary statement that saying ‘yes I spent money refreshing my property, but in a highly cost effective and planet-centric way’.”

Jensen Interiors at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show

 February 19, 2010

Following the successful launch at the Monaco Yacht Show of their ‘super green’ interior designs for the world’s first super-green superyacht Soliloquy, the Jensen Interiors updated concepts will be on stand MA42 at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show February 25th to 27th on the Callender Designs stand.

‘Since Monaco we have refined the interior design concept further’ says David Jensen, Chairman of Jensen Interiors. ‘The market in Abu Dhabi is essential for us. The building of the Masdar and Ghantoot ‘green cities’ and focus on environmentally sensitive and sustainable building, means our opportunity is enormous to contribute to a range of on-shore developments as well as yachts like Soliloquy.'

‘Corporate clients have been broadly committed to the BREEAM and LEED environmental standards for some time, but residential clients too now want their refurbishment and new build projects to meet the environmental agenda. Our team is used to working to these standards and in the Middle East, and it’s a part of the World we enjoy working in.’
