In January Lurssen launched the 85 meter superyacht dubbed Project Niki. Designed by Espen Oeino, Niki is a yacht of extremely harmonious proportions, and with a length of  85 meters and a beam of 13.80 m, she is extraordinarily large. She comes in at 62nd in the top 100 largest yachts in the world. The interior volumes have been designed by Aileen Rodriguez and accommodate all of the owner's requirements whilst still maintaining sleek and elegant lines. The Baltic 72 Grand Prix is a joint R&D project between Baltic Yachts and Italian owner Mr. Alessandro Rombelli, who just recently won the Meleges 20 Gold Cup Championship. The boat will be delivered in the summer of 2012 and was designed by Judel/vrolijik & co. to comply with the mini maxi IRC rules. This innovative 72 footer will compete with the fastest mini maxis ever built, taking part in prestigious races around the Mediterranean. BMT Nigel Gee, a subsidiary of the BMT Group, is pleased to announce its collaboration with Henry Ward Design in the development of the highly innovative "Recreational Island". Measuring some 10m x 8m when deployed, the design concept is a folding, floating platform, which in its folded position can be stored in the tender bay of a large yacht. Deployed using standard overhead tender cranes it can be towed by tender in its folded position to a preferred location - either into a shallow bay that the yacht cannot access, or simply to act as a stern extension to the yacht's existing transom platform, thereby offering a large and flexible space for recreation, dining and relaxing. Imagine, the 65.7m superyacht launched in 2011, has introduced a policy of carbon offsetting her fuel. The yacht’s operators have gone beyond the required standards of environmental management, by pro-actively reducing her net carbon footprint. To achieve this positive impact, Yacht Carbon Offset counterbalances the greenhouse gas emissions of Imagine’s engines with equivalent emissions reductions from verified green energy projects.   Grahame Shorrocks, Imagine’s Captain said: “More and more of the guests who come onboard Imagine are increasingly aware of the environmental impact yachting has and are interested in how we can offset these effects. Mulder Shipyard has received two new orders from clients in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, marking a great start to 2012 for the Dutch yard. This is shaping up to be a memorable year in general, with the scheduled delivery of several yachts and the opening of a brand-new second facility, construction of which is currently in full swing.
